Wildlife artist Lori Dunn has become one of Canada’s foremost scratchboard artists. A gifted artist as a child, it was presumed that she would pursue an artistic career. With a passion and keen interest in wildlife, however, Lori steered naturally to the sciences. Graduating with an honours BSc. in Zoology she entered into a 15 year career as a professional zookeeper.
These years of experience gave her a deep appreciation for the need to protect habitat and endangered species. After several years as a zookeeper and naturalist, Lori resumed her artistic endeavours finding a way to combine her artistic ability and her desire to conserve nature. Most of her artworks are accompanied by a narrative serving to educate others on the conservation status of the species and its importance to our environment.
Lori’s scratchboard artworks have garnered National and international recognition. She is a signature member of The Society of Animal Artists, and has achieved master recognition from the International Society of Scratchboard Artists. Many of her works have been exhibited in museums and galleries across North America. She works from her home studio in Norwood, Ontario.
