I have more than 25 years’ experience as a professional photographer.
I was formally trained in Photographic Arts at Conestoga College in Kitchener and received an Imaging Certificate (intensive Adobe Photoshop training) at DPA Communications in Toronto. I stay current through tutorials and materials provided through my membership with the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP).
I started Black Dog Creative Arts in Mansfield, Ontario after spending nearly two decades working as a professional photographer in Toronto, most recently for the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.
My artwork is born from photography (but I’ve been told you’d never know it if I didn’t tell you)! My photos form the foundation for evocative and emotive constructed images, mostly of rural and environmentally-inspired scenes.
Each piece I create tells a story, one of icons, landmarks, symbols and metaphors.
Sadly, all is not well out here “in the country”: the history and the legends of both rural life and the natural environment are being sacrificed in the name of progress.
But my work is not a eulogy. Instead, it is designed to trigger long-buried emotions that might create change.
